i've had this problem around the middle of May until the 2nd week of June.
My clients always need to call me telling me that they cannot login the
first time and they have to try logging in around 7-8 times before finally
being able to log in. to solve that problem, i tried palying around with my
smb.conf, and voila, one day, all my clients can now log in instantaneously!
and what did i do right? i'm not really sure this is the solution to your
problem, but here goes: do you have the interfaces= parameter in your .conf?
if you have, try commenting that out and try again... hope this works for yo
like it did for me...

Subject: [plug] addendum to my samba PDC problems.
In my quest to find the source of the problem i mentioned just a while
ago, i stumbled on a post which even more accurately describes my problems
with samba:
> The problem I am having is that everyday, at the time the users
> come to work and turn on their machines, its almost impossible
> for them to login the domain. They receive "Bad Password" error
> about 14 to 20 times (I have counted them) until they can log in.
> After that, during the day, if someone restarts its computer, it
> logs at the first try. But if someone turns off his computer for
> a regular time or if the IP address is changed, the errors come back.
Anyone else have this problem? It's fairly consistent with each client
LAN i set up so it's not a case of bad hardware. All the posts just
direct me with a 'please give me a copy of your tcpdump output' No real
solution.
