A PLUG member wrote some code for "smart" DNS redirection.
However, I found out some sites like AOL (!!) don't honor DNS TTL.

Cisco is phasing out the LocalDirector in favor of its acquisitions from 
ArrowPoint.  I will get to try a Foundry ServerIron - the favorite of many -
soon, but you need one per site if you're going to do balancing between
multiple sites.
