Subject: RE: [plug] load balancer
what
is the difference between switches, hardware, and layer 4?
there are seven layers on an OSI model... layer 4 is a
transport layer (this is where tcp and udp belongs)
layer 8 and layer 9 is not part of an OSI
layer.
switch is a hardware but the one i mentioned about switch
load balancer and hardware load balancer are in similar functions with
different categories. switch load balancer is like a switch or a hub that can
do load balancing aside from switching packets where a common connection point
for devices in a network is terminated while hardware load balancer that can
do load balancing also but it is connected or terminated to a switch or a
hub. switch load balancer have lots of ports while hardware load
balancer is limited.
