hi there,

just some additional info.
most people use the convention yyyymmddnn

where:
yyyy = year
mm = month
dd = date
nn = number between 01 and 99

if you modify your zone files more than once in a single day,
you just have to increment nn, otherwise, just put in the new date
in the specified format.

this format makes the file self-documenting,
at a glance, you'll know when was the last time anybody modified
the particular zone file.
