Well, I think a plug-misc would be good.
Yet again, how misc should misc be?
If this list will include posts by people who are bound by a common
interest in linux, I really think it will clean up both the plug and
newbie lists.
Since we started the newbie list, it seems the greatest obstacle for
them was knowing which posts went to which list.
Heck, I'm still a bit confused about which linux query or info I have
should be posted to which list.
I have just guessed that the main plug list includes everything between
intermediate linux issues and ISP administration.
Anything below intermediate goes to the newbies and anything considered
hard core ISP issues goes to ph-isp, (which I further guess to be a mix
of OS type of list).
Anyway, I assume that once we have a plug-misc, we would (strongly?)
recommend that the newbies join both this and the newbies list.
This would give them a place to feel more at home using linux by
indirectly bonding to others who have similar non-linux interests.
Then we would strongly recommend that if they joined the plug list, they
lurk, and lurk, and lurk until they have a feel for it.
Also,iIt would be easier on everybody's nerves when a newbie posts to
plug-misc and is told by a plugger to elevate his issue to
ph-linux-newbie.
Same goes for a post in ph-linux-newbie being elevated to plug.
Hmmm, do we even have to? Knowing that there are pluggers in
ph-linux-newbie as well? With the volunteers in ph-linux-newbie, few
posts should be elevated to plug itself.

If this pushes through, the only thing left to decide at this point
would be how to group newbies.
Based on Ian's post Re: [plug] PLUG, the org on Wed, 28 Feb 2001
14:13:39 +0800 (PHT):
"newbies will be encouraged to register, and those posting on the main
plug list will be directed to the newbies list."
These plug posts however, have indirectly caused tempers and emails to
flare and flame several times.
Reversing this would be good all around, and foster the further growth
of PLUG, The Community.

I think we have taken the approach of treating any new subscriber as a
newbie.
What we didn't expect, (or I probably missed the post mentioning to the
contrary), was that there would be "newbies" who are recent subscribers
yet have more than a year of Linux experience and at least intermediate
linux skills and knowledge.
These posters would understandably consider their posts non-newbie and
send it happily to plug.

So, with our community growing, (570 according to the Linux Counter), I
really believe we should start thinking bigger.
