hi there superman,
1. error messages are emailed to root for a reason:
so root will be informed of any problems the system is having.
it would be a good idea to forward root's email to a sysad who regularly
checks his email so that root's mailbox won't get full of unread emails.
2. if your users' mailboxes are filling up your system,
you may want to try setting user quotas.
check out the man pages for the ff:
quotactl, fstab, edquota, quotacheck, quotaon, repquota
