but you'll also delete other stuff which are mailed to root.
some of them maybe important to you.
you can also:
1. investigate which emailed error messages are not needed and are very
repetitive. then create a procmail recipe for root to discard those
particular emails. 'man procmail' and 'man procmailrc'
2. error messages are sent to root for a reason, you may create an alias for
root to a person who regularly retrieves his/her email by adding this to
/etc/aliases or /etc/postfix/aliases
root: apaul
and then do a 'newaliases'
then /var/spool/mail/root will only fill up if apaul stops regularly checking
his mail :)
