Agreed. But before we start 'advocating' we must develop something which
we can "ram down their throats" so to speak.  Put our solution where our
mouth is(tm)

If all we have are bits and pieces comprising linux, LTSP, samba, ldap,
it's just as saying that we have nothing usable.

We need to integrate all of this into a workable system, which is easy to
install, and is sufficient for common office purposes.
