is there a listening telnet socket at port 25? i think this is used
by smtp and you can not telnet to it ( or can you? ). telnet uses port
23.

i think an nfs client can not run w/o:
1) portmapper
and for nfs locking
2) rpc.statd and
3) rpc.lockd
i think they are the sunrpc's nfs is looking for. in that case, you
have to start them or worst case, install them.
