xinetd is up and the tlenet service is working as evidenced
by entries in /var/log/messages. I think Mike Blanca's solution
to produce a new sendmail.cf file from the sendmail.mc file
by enabling both LOCALMAILER and SMTP to enable listening on
your IP address is the correct fix. I just can not test that
since I am not in the lab now. The 3-day course is finished
and the email session was the last session yesterday. Also
this was the first time that I used RH7.1 for a Linux trainig course.

Sorry, but the portmapper is running, and other portmapper-controlled
services like finger are okay. It is just that after I boot with
the new kernel, nfs breaks. Must be one of the old nfs-util files
that do not agree with the new kernel.
