Why is it ineffectual? As long as the VPN connection is encrypted and
does not allow snooping by external sources, then the solution is well
provided for, i believe.
I've had no luck looking for a heterogenous solution to this problem
(windows->linux VPN), and all i could suggest is that the remote windows
box connect through a VPN MASQ linux box into another waiting windows box
inside a private network. This case involves using NON-open source
solutions so i would really not even consider it.
