Just curious! =) I'm an American, married to a Filipina. I don't really speak Tagalog (although I know a lot of words like "maganda", "malapit", etc.). And I've been to the Philippines. I learned a lot of good Tagalog the first visit, like "Mura na, Pilipino pa" and "Atin ang langhap sarap". We also get abs-cbn via satellite, so most of the tv and news that I watch is the typical Filipino stuff. I have a really bad Tagalog-English dictionary that I bought at South Mall for P41, so I can look stuff up (if the wife isn't around). I also bought a P65 "Conversational Tagalog" book there, but it's about the equivalent of learning how to program by viewing a binary executable in emacs. We're coming over next month, and I wanted to get a view of the Linux scene there so I subscribed to the list to watch, but I always end up answering questions. I have realized that a list like this is a really good place for me to get exposure to some written Tagalog Anyway, my in-laws live in Las Pinas, and that's where I'll be in four weeks. It would be nice to get together with some Linux users if I get some time. If you read slashdot, you may already know me.
