hi, a similar problem but with many udp packets passing through a linux router running a 2.2.19 kernel with 3com nics. the udp packets come from counter-strike players (officemates). guaranteed, it will intermittently stop transmitting packets. but the machine is not locked up cause i can do work on the physical console. it just wont transmit packets for about 10-60 seconds, then it will get back online, then stop again, etc...
when nobody is playing CS, or no udp traffic is passing other than dns, everything's ok. i did read somewhere that this is a udp vulnerability of 2.2 kernels so i just gave up on it. parang na dos attack. i was not able to note if it was fixed with 2.4 or the recently released 2.2.20 version. pong On Wed, 14 Nov 2001, Reynald I.
