Hi everyone, I ran across an intriguing Slashdot banner by ita software. The problem goes: "Combining nine 9s with any number of operators +,-,*,/,(,), what is the smallest positive integer that cannot be expressed?"
Assuming by "positive integer" the set of integers [1,inf) is meant, then the smallest positive integer that cannot be expressed is ... 1? If we make it "...the smallest positive integer that can be expressed?", then is it ... 5? 9 - ((9 / 9) + (9 / 9) + (9 / 9) + (9 / 9)). I hope someone can correct me if I'm wrong. Really trivial, but interesting anyway. :) --> Jijo -- Federico Sevilla III :: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Network Administrator :: The Leather Collection, Inc.
