I don't know about HotSpot, but personally I find the Windows implementation of Java to run AWT/Swing-based applications faster than when run under the X environment in Linux. I was using Sun's JDK for the GNU/Linux environment. Some claim that IBM's JDK was better -- though I have no idea how to really compare performance. "Faster" in the sense that screen redraws and response was snappier than that under X. -------------------------------------- Gino LV.
