You see, that's what you get with that !@#%! "The One OS" "Windows XP
Rocks" sh*t. And you were talking about standards and Linux having too
many parallel standards, eh? Bah! With Microsoft's "standards", the rest
of the world either has to pay, or figure things out by reverse
engineering using up precious developer time.

A great example: the SMB protocol. Ask any Samba developer and they'll
tell you the same thing. It's a blasted pain in the neck dealing with,
closed source and all. Not to mention the fact that with each new release
of Windows, they obsolete some chunk of the previous "standard".

And now this CHM that you need to view via COM. Maybe you, oh great
appreciator of Microsoft's products, can hack your way through a CHM
viewer for Linux? You never know, Microsoft might just get you for
violation of the DMCA. And you can guess which list will be laughing their
asses of. ;>

A lot of very nice documents? Microsoft has done it right? If it did it
right why didn't it make it an open standard? They're freaking documents
after all, not program source code! But then this just shows us how true
that "The One OS" paraphrase is. You can guess who the real-life Sauron
is.

Sheesh. With all this stuff from you Andy, I'm beginning to wonder if you
actually understand wha the letters in PLUG stand for. That L, the second
character, or in languages like C the first element, stands for Linux. Not
Microsoft or Windows or XP, none of which have any L's in them.

Can we drop all this Microsoft sh*t and focus on enjoying the freedom that
Linux and the rest of the Open Source software gives us? I like what Orly
said. It's really not which OS is better, really. We're a Linux Users'
Group. Why don't we just go on chattering about the operating system we've
all grown to love?

And no, I am NOT dodging your "valid points". I'm just pointing out that
this is a mailing list for users and developers of the Linux Operating
System. FUD or not FUD, we love the OS for one reason or another. I don't
think your attempts to point out the validity of Microsoft's products are
being done in the right alley. Valid as they may be, do them somewhere
else. You are wasting our time.
