i have to admit this is quite true.

but, let me add some details to the previous posters points.

linux is already beginning to dominate in the PDA world. vendors
are moving their gear away from winCE and PalmOS to linux platforms
such as QPE and others.

hehehe. this reminds me of M$ marketing of the .NET platform. i
am doing a JSP/Servlet/XML/SSL/i18n project and J2EE provides
me with all the tools i need for free. this has been the case
since the time it was released (2 years ago?) .NET definitely
has some catching up to do.

Qualcomm still domintates this since it controls the standards.
but, the J2ME (mobile edition) is also fast becoming an open
standard for mobile applications.

ha! what an uninformed statement. you should check out the
box office and you will realize that the latest CG movies such
as final fantasy, bugs life and others have been rendered using
linux farms.

here is some reading material. abiet it is quite dated. i have
been following the CG world because i find it interesting and
a lot has changed since then.

btw, i personally use povray to render some nice CG animations
clips. hehehe. i use a beowulf cluster and MPI-Povray and they
are all free software.

Kylix must be applauded. but, of course not just kylix. i presented
a developers overview of linux before and there are other tools
that are WYSIWYG.

qt-designer -> comes with qt libraries and is a part of
linux distributions already. this helps users generated WYSIWYG
applications that use the qt libs (whose code is cross platform
and can be used to compile qt apps for windows and enbedded
environments)

kdevelop -> uses qt-designers as it WYSIWYG tool but kdevelop
contains other stuff like the GNU toolchain generation automation
and a decent IDE

glade -> WYSIWYG tool for gtk libraries. can also be used with
kdevelop.

there are also other tools out there in the wild but there are
the tools that come highly recommended. btw, follow students and
researchers at MIT (boston) recommend kdevelop for their
development needs.

i really appologize for the reactions you are getting from
this list. but, it really is expected from an advocacy and
users group list. sorry.

i will try to keep my posts on technical points only and thus
avoid senseless flames.

to my fellow PLUGgers: the way we handle this situation reflects
on us. therefore, we must be civil and try to answer his
point with technological fact only and try to limit opinions.
but, i am not stopping anybody from doing anything. this is just
a recommendation.
