No! it's not security, in fact the way Edsamail does it in Win9x is inelegant. The RAS API parts common to both WinNT and Win9x are quite nice. No need to whack the registry to produce DUN entries. You just make the right function call. For example: 1. create a new phonebook entry using RasSetEntryProperties() 2. dial up using RasDial() -- the username/password/phone number/DUN name (a.k.a. phonebook entry) are set here It's quite easy. I was trying to write a MosCom dialer some months ago and I was developing on Win2k but deploying on Win9x. And it works!
