I agree with your Orly, it's not that obscure. I've been using it for quite awhile, too, and even before I started using Linux. But the neat application of this HTTP spec is the key here. Thanks to the fact that a growing number of news articles can only be directly referred to in a similarly obscure manner (read: looong), a lot of people forget to inspect the URL to see if it's actually coming from where it's supposed to be.
