If I remember right, the web browser Opera recognizes such kinds of URL and would prompt the user if he'd want to enter some personal web site that would need authentication (unlike the prevalent web browsers in the market). I'd expect that MS would "borrow" that functionality in their next iteration of Internet Explorer.
