#As you noted below, this will slow down your connection significantly.
#If you will tunnel everything through ssh though then maybe you don't
#need this?
#

I'm planning on having WEP turned on so non-ssh-tunneled channels (e.g. windows shared
folders) can still have a level of protection, albeit weaker.

#Another possibility is to set up a VPN from your wireless node to your
#gateway. This may also address the issues you're asking about in the
#following lines. And shouldn't this also cover all our bases, e.g.
#piggy-backing on connection & off-the-air sniffing?

I've just started looking at possible use of VPN in the wireless segment of my
network. Looks like using VPN between the gateway, and the wireless nodes is a better
solution that WEP+SSH-tunneling.

Should I go with the VPN solution, what client software can I use for the
Windows-based wireless nodes? Any open source ones available? I wonder if CheckPoint
SecureRemote client can be used with IPSec/FreeSWAN servers.. hmm.

Thanks,
