Thanks for the info. I've heard of Free/SWAN but never tried it before.
Will it require a kernel recompilation? I may try this out when I
reinstall/upgrade Mandrake 8.2 on my gateway.

Access to the shares themselves will be protected by W2K's own
authentication. As far as sniffing the traffic, ff you're running WEP,
it should be a bit secure (but as you know, WEP is crackable). 

Does the IPSec/FreeSwan support peer-to-peer communications? If so, that
may solve the sniffing problem. If it doesn't and you need absolute
security then you may need to set up an ssh server on the wireless nodes
and just use ssh.
