[plug] [Possible OT] SMS Chat on TV

Hi,   Does anyone know how those SMS chats on TV work?  If you watch a lot of TV (esp. late night), you might have seen these chat TV channels (a-la IRC) where people chat by texting to a certain number, then soon enough their messages appear onscreen.   I'd like to know how this process works, and/or what software are used, what OS, etc. etc...   TIA!   Joon
