wrong. smsc's dont talk to web servers. they dont even understand http. 
u need an application in between that translates sms messages/commands 
to actual URLs. unless you're talking about the whole ARTUS line of 
mobile solutions by nokia...where one of them (a program) CAN connect to 
both smscs and web servers.

building your own gateway is not that difficult. you just need the 
protocol spec (CIMD2 or SMPP or UCP). it's true, getting the telco to 
let that gateway to their smscs is the tricky part. you have to apply 
(both have procedures to do this already, i.e. paperwork). they'll call 
you a "content provider".
