yeah, see, i *have* been doing that.  testing with many different
kernel versions.  i haven't had to boot from floppy yet.  that's
why i thought there *was* an implicit mapping.  but your link
seems to indicate that there isn't.  hehe, one of these days
i'm going to read some MORE documentation.  maybe even the
source :).
