I was finally able to import my mailboxes from Outlook Express to
Evolution (which is what I'm using right now). I found out that
Evolution only imports from OE4 mails, not IE5. I tried different
techniques, such as using a colleague's Eudora to import (which led to
importing problems), and ultimately, the solution was to import to mbox
format using Kmailcvt, then to Evolution. Phew!

I'd say, it really is so much like Outlook Express! And I like the way
it checks mail from different account: simultaneously!

So far, my migration to X-Windows (I'm using KDE, btw) has had no major
headaches, just a few adjustments here and there. As for the apps I
need, I'm still browsing around for good ones.

Any recommendations on what to use as:

1. A network neighborhood-type of interface for KDE (in conjunction with
Samba, or smbclient, or smbmount, dunno yet)

2. A download manager (something like ReGet or GoZilla)

3. A GUI FTP client (with SFTP capability)

4. A GUI SSH/telnet client

5. A Media Player (for mpgs, avis, movs...)

As for the browser, I'm still deciding whether to use Opera or
Konqueror.

Thanks all!

Joon
