It's not BS. It's solicitous concern for _you_. You see, a frequent
problem on technical forums is that people, especially newcomers, will
accidentally pose a question so that, when answered fully and in detail,
does them no good whatsoever. Often, this happens because the user
posted his diagnosis rather than his symptoms. Experience suggests
you've done exactly that, in fact.

When a newcomer does that sort of thing, everyone's effort in giving
him detailed answers, followed by the realisation that it did no good,
becomes very frustrating for all concerned. Part of the reason for my
post was to save you and everyone else that frustration.

Unless you can tell us more, there is _zero_ reason to believe you have
anything at all listening on port 1024. If you're saying there is,
then tell us why you think so, and what that thing is.

It's extremely likely that you have nothing to worry about, so that's
good news for you.

Cheers, The difference between common sense and paranoia is that common sense
Rick Moen is thinking everyone is out to get you. That's normal; they are.
