Dude, I've read the thread and the explanation is necessary for a newbie
like you to know. You see, we really can't rell you how to disable port 24
without you telling us details, like how were you able to arrive to a
conclusion of port 1024 in your system (like you used a port scanner) or if
you told us what program in your Linux box is using port 1024.
As far as I know, there's only one commonly known program in Linux that uses
1024, and that is KDM (K Display Manager by KDE). If that is the case, then
you might as well not use KDM or configure KDM not to listen at port 1024.
Of course, you could also try to block it using certain firewall rules, but
if it's just your workstation and not the server, why bother blocking it
with firewall rules when you're the only one probably using that
workstation. It would be more convinient in your part to just turn-off that
daemon/program listening in that port or just configure that program not to
listen at port 1024.
So please, don't give whine that you're not given the correct answer when
you're not giving enough details about the problem. It's like you're asking
for an answer when you you haven't given any kind of question. We're totally
clueless as you are.
