get Intel motherboards. or Tyan, if you can find them. i think the server-
grade Intel boards have i850 chipsets on them (RDRAM).

with regards to the i845 chipset, i'm sorry but you can't SMP Pentium 4s.
Only Pentium 4 Xeons are SMP-capable.
