Hey guys,

I'm in the process of moving my stuff from an old to a new laptop. After the
installation, and a bump on making my Xircom Ethernet/Modem combo PC Card to work,
things went smooth, at least before I starting using the new docking station.

After docking the laptop, the video went from OK to skewed on the left side. The
display would also blink for a moment every 10 seconds or so. I went through possible
X Monitor settings but still no dice. At this point, I gave up on XFree4.0 and
installed XFree86 3.3.6. Alas, the video was OK again. The problem now is xfs would
go into a state where it grabs ~99% of the CPU time.

The question now is, does anybody know why a working xfs on XFree4.0 would enter an
infinite loop (or looks like in an infinite loop) on XFree86 3.3.6?

BTW I noticed that the xfs RPM has a 4.2 version but there's no other xfs package
available in the three (3) MDK 8.2 installer CDs. The new laptop has ATI Mobility
video card.

I'd appreciate any information.

stay cool.
