hi!

cyrus-sasl is for authenticating the user via different ways like pam, salsdb, ldap 
and kerberos_V4 thru saslauthdaemon.

in my case, i use saslauthdaemon -> pam(pam_mysql) -> mysql.

it's pre-requisite if you need cyrus-imapd.

         Its optional... postfix already has a local delivery agent but it 
all depends on suiting your needs.  I'm not quite sure though on the
