hello all, I've got a project that requires 3270 emulation and screen scraping. I've found the x3270/s3270 site:
http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/Peaks/7814/ so now i think i've got the emulator. for various reasons mainly involving convenience, client's (entirely justified, i'm the same way, and they really have good reason to be paranoid) security paranoia and ensuing delays at getting anything done, i'd like to test some of the basics (simple connection, practice scripting) on a public host before having to travel to the paying client's site and working directly on their actual mainframe/mini. is anyone aware of a public server that accepts tn3270 connections? It doesn't have to have anything on it. if it did, that would be nice since i could test the scripting part too, but if it doesn't, that's fine. simple connection is enough for now. thanks for any pointers. i know it's unlikely that there's anything out there that's free, but i figure it does no harm to try. the client has a whole bunch of OSes installed, linux is working as DNS, squid and web servers. now i want to install linux in there as a custom glue server, connecting to their mainframe/minis and interfacing a web based interface to the data that's on the mainframe. heh, if someone would point me at a linux 3270 SERVER (hehe, linux pretending to be a mainframe and serving 3270 sessions), that would be funny :). and still useful for testing. tiger -- Gerald Timothy Quimpo tiger*quimpo*org gquimpo*sni*ph tiger*sni*ph Veritas liberabit vos. _ Philippine Linux Users Group.
