USB is a hot-plug technology so no harm done, not to the devices anyway. I have
experienced PC lock-ups on both a PC running Windows and a Mac when I detached
my Visor's cradle, but I think this is more a sign of faulty drivers. Everything
still works, just that there was a software hiccup.
