Gee, so far, what i've seen as your points (coming from all these previous posts are: 1) sendmail is 'mature' (which in another way could be construed as 'old') 2) sendmail is included by default by most unixes 3) sendmail is used by certain 'big' companies and sites in the internet 4) sendmail.com has a commercial support program, & 'big' companies support it Won't you agree that these are your points? Note that I can say the same for qmail on both numbers 3 & 4. Numbers 1 & 2 can be attributed to sendmail's age which you seem to give real value to. And of these points not a single ONE of these address anything technical in nature, - there's no comparison and critique of the design, - there's no real discussion of the track record in security, (well actually there was a discussion on security but it decayed into a lot of excuses and explanations for each sendmail vulnerability) - there's no discussion of actual experiences of comparing performance between sendmail and the other MTAs. In short, nothing that can convince me that sendmail is a better solution than qmail or postfix. So please excuse me if i disagree totally with you. I do not accuse you of being a zealot for anything (you keep on repeating that), what i do is speak my mind about what i consider to be a better solution on a purely technical basis. If you want to refute me, then do so also on a technical basis, not on what may be construed as circumstancial evidence to support your point, the irony of which is that they can be also used to support my point. _ Philippine Linux Users Group.
