For the uninitiated:

M-x is Meta-x, or Alt-x (if your Alt is Meta), or ESC x (if you don't have an Alt or 
Meta key).
RET is just your return key.
C-h is Control-h.

C-h t  in Emacs gets you to the Emacs tutorial. =)
