LyX is a word processor which just happens to write TeX as output file.
The only thing I do not like about LyX is that is uses a closed-source
library which you can download for free but only in binary.  This I do
not understand -- why would a freeware author use a closed-source
library (libforms?) when there are other open source libraries with the 
same functionality?
