because when LyX was first written (I've been using it since 0.10 or something) XForms was a very nice library to code for, Qt was already out but C++, and Gtk wasn't mature yet. I did quite a bit of programming in XForms before. It was nice. Although now that "namulat na ako," I think Gtk, even bare Gtk (with no GNOME bloat) is more elegant.
