Hi Rowel and fellow PLUG addicts, Veteran or not, people like you contribute intelligently to the mudball we have all come to love, also known as PLUG. The general response to off topic threads would be to shoo the culprits to posting or replying to a different mailing list which is more appropriate (hint: plug-misc or their ilk). However, it might be that the usual posters on this list have taken a bit more time off-list than normal and so have not been making as much signal posts to counteract the noise we have been subjected to lately. I'm pretty sure that if we all help policing the list, and not wait for our wonderful list moderator to issue warnings, then the signal-to-noise ratio will return to normal. It might be useful though if we have a periodic posting of our informal rules of thumb about where to write what. An occasional off-topic post isn't that bad, but when it runs amok and floods the list the way that last thread did, it gets irritating. Kung hindi pa rin naiintindihan ng iba, ang "rule-of-thumb" siguro ay: common beginner linux problems go to ph-linux-newbie, not-so-beginner problems and other Linux related posts to PLUG, anything that's obviously not of interest to Linux fans in particular would go to plug-misc. PLUG is generally serious, but hey, Linux should be fun, so not-so-serious posts that DO INVOLVE Linux can still go here. xen -- ___ eric pareja (xenos AT ice.onosendai.org) User #8159 http://counter.li.org \e/ [ Chiba City: A Cyberpunk MUSH - http://chibacity.erisian.net ] GNU/Linux v [ Philippine Linux Users' Group + http://plug.linux.org.ph ] Software & [ Free the books! http://www.bookcrossing.com/referral/pusakat ] Freedom "...the symbol is nothing.
