i only install X on 1 of my servers, kind of like a management console. btw, disk space is not an issue anymore since HD are so cheap nowadays, a few extra MB's and a few cpu cycles wouldnt hurt your system, unless your running old hardware.
you can also get some joy from tweaking X (or getting X to work in some cases), beautifying it as well. ---lem "M.
