Hi there. I am strugling with rpm dependency hell and I thought I need to know how libraries are named in linux.
The application that I am trying to install requires a library called libXm.so.2 and I do not have it on my system. What I do have is a libXm.so.6. How are shared libraries named in linux? Can I just create a link and have libXm.so.2 point to libXm.so.6? Any implications in doing that? If I do that will RPM recognise the added link? Does RPM go and look for libraries installed in the system or it just relies on whats listed in the RPM database? Thanks for the help. Holden _ Philippine Linux Users Group.
