True, but (for reasons cited) I'd strongly suggest that the most-appropriate long-term solution is to get rid of the alias entirely. Remember, the question I was addressing was "How can I copy files from one directory to another without prompting me to overwrite existing files?" I answered it as posed. The question was not "How do I make it painless to keep on doing that on future occasions?" -- "If I have seen farther than others, it is because I was standing on the shoulders of giants." (Isaac Newton) "If I have not seen as far as others, it is because giants were standing on my shoulders." (Hal Abelson) "In computer science, we stand on each other's feet." (Brian K.
