This is what I've obsereved:
* User has used Windows, Mac OS <= 9, or any non-*nix-like OS, he'll
have a hard time learning Linux.
* However a user who had no background in using any computer before and
you teach that person Linux, it's easy for that person to get it.
For the second observation, I've also observed years ago that a person
who's so used to DOS will have a hard time using Windows 3.x or 95
(unless he uses the MS-DOS command prompt).
So basically, the reason why adoption of Linux as a desktop OS is so
slow is that most people got used to what they're doing and if the're
going to be any change they will resist it. Just like some people I know
who always launch a program or a file associated with a program by doing
a right-click then open. You teach them that you can do it faster by
double-clicking instead, they use the new techniqye, you go away for a
while, then come back, and then... surprise, they're using
right-click-open again. :(
