you should try using a cache_replacement_policy other than the default lru,
like heap GDSF. you get less cache pollution and better object eviction so the
cache doesnt fill up with stale objects.


or you can try playing with cache_swap_high and cache_swap_low settings, but in
my experience with highload squid servers cache_replacement_policy works better
