I'm not sure, but maybe even the more tech-savvy can't tell the difference either, just by looking. I myself ask to look at a copy of the manual, or maybe even the box. If the box says the modem *requires* (emphasis mine) Windows, it's a good bet it won't work with any other OS. That's what I did when I was shopping for a modem some three years ago. Got myself a Diamond SupraExpress w/c worked with *all* the OSes I had on my box at one time or another -- OS/2, BeOS, Linux, FreeBSD, OpenBSD. Mabuhay. _ Philippine Linux Users Group.
