if you have a winmodem (rockwell/conexant chipset)

our winmodems into linmodems.

all the WinModems I've seen have Conexant chips. These were formerly known as "Cirrus" or "Rockwell" -- there was some sort of consolidation. If you see one big chip with "Conexant" written on it, that's a Winmodem. But what type? the HCF is not supported on Linux, but the HSF is. that I don't know..
