The GTK+/wxWindows/Python and GTK+/Perl ones _absolutely_ will be.  
Thus my earlier point.

This, of course, is one of the big lies of the Java world, where
real-world portability has always been just around the corner, but
somehow never quite delivered.  Thus the now-traditional joke, 
"Write once, debug everywhere."
