afaik, knoppix has nothing to do with it.
i've experienced the same flicker problem on DEB, MDK, RH using xine & mplayer 0.9 (counter-counter) as well.
r u using Xv or XShm as the video output plugin?
have you tried using xine 0.9.13?
i think posting your problems to [EMAIL PROTECTED] might help you better.
