3 or 4 years back, I saw several manufacturers coming up with solid state disks with IDE interface -- pretty pricey considering the cost of hard disks nowadays, but sizes go all the way up to 1 GB.
Imagine a hard disk impervious to vibration or shocks --- I even saw one that runs Linux on a portable computer with a wet cell attached to the bottom with wheels -- designed to be used in hospitals where the computer is wheeled to the bedside...
