yep, we're also planning to replace CF (Compact Flash) with USB Flash Drives on our devices. you can create a gnu/linux bootdisk on it. just make sure that the BIOS supports booting from a USB-ZIP.
and maybe in the future, we can use UFDs (with its keychain look/feel) to start-up our linux-powered cars/tricycles. =)
