Anyone have a copy of Mandrake GNU/Linux 9.2 yet? The current downloads require MandrakeClub membership, and it's not going to be available for the rest of us lay people until about two weeks from now. It's not illegal to get copies off Club members though. Anyone have a local mirror? It would be nice to have it before I go home for the break. Big opportunity for spreading the goodness back home.

This has been one of the issue that we have tackled at mandrakeusers.org (the unofficial mandrake user board). while the distro is full GPL (at least the download versions) and there is nothing stopping anybody from sharing it via ftp/btorrent/p2p apps, the company behind the distro thought of releasing it *first* to the mdkclub members as an incentive for those who put their money where their mouth is. this is to also give time for the box sets to trickle to the retail channels (if mdk still has those).
Bottom line is that mandrakesoft is thinking of ways to ensure the survival of their company. They are not disallowing us to use their distro, they are only asking those who cant contribute (mdkclub or cooker) to wait 15 days. Some may contest that this is crap but this has been a company decision and would it hurt to give some respect to those who created a good distro (mho)?
15 days doesnt seem that long, but hey they released it under GPL so let them eat crap. there are many (easy) ways to circumvent their sinister ploy and they are stifling the *freedom* of all linux users of the world.
I am also waiting to get my hands on a 9.2 iso, but like what most on musb regulars have agreed to, we are waiting until the time that they are offered officially to the public before sharing them to somebody else.
